Women’s Obstetric and Gynaecology Specialists is a unique medical practice that was established in 1998 and is the pioneer of group private practice in Melbourne. The five specialist female Obstetricians and Gynaecologists; Dr Jenny Dowd, Dr Khairul Mohamed-Noor, Dr Kym Jansen, Dr Renee Wong and Dr Philippa Costley, work cohesively as a team sharing their combined expertise to provide specialist care for all their patients 24 hours a day. Founding member, Dr Angelie Lee, retired from the practice in 2016.

Pregnant women attending the group will book with their principal obstetrician who will be the main contact and conduct most of the antenatal visits. We plan for each woman to meet with all other doctors during the pregnancy so that whatever time of the day or night a familiar face will greet her in labour ward. The practice has an after-hours and weekend roster system, so that during these times the management of labour or emergencies will be the responsibility of the doctor on call. One doctor is the designated specialist on call for 24 hours at a time, but in practice we look after our own patients during the day if possible, and any elective deliveries and procedures are planned to suite both doctor and patient. Gynaecology patients will remain under the care of their principle gynaecologist, except for after hours’ emergencies whereby the specialist on call will care for the patient. All our obstetric patients are delivered exclusively at Frances Perry House, which is a private hospital co-located above the Royal Women's Hospital.
