Dr Philippa (Pip) Costley joined the team at Women’s Obstetrics and Gynaecology Specialists in 2016. Pip also holds a consultant position in both obstetrics and gynaecology at The Royal Women’s Hospital.
Pip developed a passion for obstetrics and gynaecology during her undergraduate medical training at Monash University. After completing her internship at The Alfred, she commenced specialist training through The Royal Women’s Hospital. She also worked at Sandringham, Shepparton, Geelong and Sunshine throughout her training.
Pip is interested in all aspects of women’s health. She loves the opportunity to share a women’s journey through her entire pregnancy, delivery and postnatal period. She is also available for pre-pregnancy counselling.
Gynaecologically, Pip has a special interest in pelvic pain and menorrhagia. She also performs a wide range of office gynaecological procedures including IUD insertion and colposcopy for abnormal pap smears.
Pip has an interest in laparoscopic surgery and is a member of the Australasian Gynaecological Endoscopic Society. She performs a wide range of hysteroscopic and laparoscopic surgery including hysterectomies, endometrial ablation and treatment of endometriosis.
Pip is heavily involved in both undergraduate and post graduate teaching through The Royal Women’s Hospital and the University of Melbourne. She mentors both medical students and RANZCOG trainees. In her spare time, Pip plays netball, tennis and enjoys running. Most of all she loves to spend time with her husband, young son Lachie and dog Moonie.
