Dr Geoffrey Glassock is highly experienced in working with adults and adolescents who present with a wide range of mental health problems.

Treatment Approach

Geoffrey is trained in a wide range of treatment modalities, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Interpersonal Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Mindfulness Approaches, Relationship Counselling and Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR). He is also a Registered Family Dispute Resolution Practitioner. His main areas of interest are in the areas of loss, grief and trauma, post-traumatic stress disorder, relationship issues, depression and anxiety, personal and work related stress and gender identity issues.

Clinical Training and Experience

Geoffrey has an undergraduate degree in Theology; a Master of Education in Counselling Psychology at Wayne State USA; a Master of Arts (Hons) at Macquarie University; a Doctorate in Sexuality and Disability at San Francisco; and a Doctor of Philosophy at University of New England. His thesis was on Australian Families of Missing Persons, Narrating their Lived Experience.

Geoffrey is a fully registered psychologist with the Psychology Board of Australia is a Fellow of the Australian Psychological Society. He provides psychological services under Medicare and is a registered treatment provider under Workers Compensation Claims. He is a foundation member and registered trainer of the Critical Incident Management Association of Australia and New Zealand.

Geoffrey initial work was in the area of Marriage and Family Counselling and Supervision in Victoria and NSW. Following the Granville train disaster, his focus moved to the area of loss, grief and trauma and setting up the National Association for Loss and Grief. He joined the staff of Sydney Teachers College to introduce the Personal Development program into teacher education. He has worked with patients and staff in hospitals providing palliative care, geriatric rehabilitation and aged psychiatry in Australia and the UK. He has about 10 years experience as the Senior Psychologist with an Employee Assistance provider and his own private practice for about 20 years. After moving to Springwood in 2013 he began practicing at Allgood Psychology.
