Dr Shim is a Gastroenterologist and a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Physician (FRACP). She obtained her medical qualification (BSc (Med), MBBS) at University of New South Wales and went through physician and gastroenterology training at Concord Repatriation General Hospital and Nepean Hospital in NSW. She later completed two years of motility fellowship at Royal North Shore Hospital where she obtained her Master's Degree specialising in Chronic Constipation. Dr Shim has full accreditation for gastroscopy and colonoscopy with the Gastroenterological Society of Australia (GESA) and is a member of the Australian Neurogastroenterology and Motility Association (ANMA) and American College of Gastroenterology (ACG).
