Dr Gordiev graduated in Medicine from the University of Sydney with First Class Honours (MBBS Hons I 1993). In 2003 Dr Gordiev completed her Orthopaedic specialisation (FRACS), undertaken through the Australian Orthopaedic Association (AOA) training program in Sydney and Canberra.

Dr Gordiev’s principal area of training an expertise is Orthopaedic Surgery of the Shoulder and Upper limb. She undertook a 15 month Shoulder Surgery Fellowship at the Cleveland Clinic, Ohio, USA in 2003-4. This fellowship was concerned with the management of shoulder arthritis, rotator cuff disease and instability. The fellowship concentrated on arthroplasty, open and arthroscopic cuff and instability surgery. She has trained in shoulder replacement, and arthroscopic and open surgery for treatment of traumatic, sporting and degenerative disorders of the shoulder and upper limb.
