Dr Jack KU is a local medical graduate of the University of Queensland. He has a rich background of different medical interests especially with surgical and skin cancer work. He has worked in various teaching hospitals in Queensland as a basic and advanced surgical registrar and in the United Kingdom in the field of Ear, Nose and Throat. He did a postgraduate degree in the medical field of hearing (Audiology) and was awarded a Mphil by the University of Queensland. He subsequently went on to complete general practice training with the then CSQTC consortium in Queensland.
Dr Jack Ku undertook further training in skin cancer management with both HealthCert of the University of Queensland and the Skin Cancer College Australasia. He is experienced in treating skin cancers from simple excisions to more complex operations. He has also worked in the Soft Tissue / Melanoma Unit in the Princess Alexandra Hospital of Queensland.
Dr Jack KU has also undergone postgraduate training in women's contraception health. He has undertaken specific training in the Logan Hospital Obstetrics and Gynaecology Department to perform Mirena insertion and removal. He is registered with Family Planning Queensland. In addition, he has undertaken training for Implanon insertion and removal.
He has also successfully completed The Basic and Advanced Medical Officer Diving and Hyperbaric Medicine Course run by the eminent diving physician Dr Chris Acott and Professor Des Gorman. Hence, Dr KU is accredited to perform BOTH Recreational Diving Medical (AS4005.1) AND Occupational Diving Medical (AS/NZS 2299.1).
In addition, Dr Jack KU has undergone specific Aviation Medicine training with the obligatory certifying examination and he is awarded The Australian Certificate in Civil Aviation Medicine (Associate Professor David Newman, Aviation Medicine Unit, Monash University) and CASA Regulatory Aviation Medicine Certificate (Dr Michael Drane, CASA Principal Medical Officer). He is appointed by the Civil Aviation Safety Authority of Australia (CASA) as a Designated Aviation Medical Examiner (DAME) and he is a member of The Australasian Society of Aerospace Medicine (ASAM).
Dr Jack KU has also completed the Mater Mother's Hospital GP Maternity Shared Care Alignment Program, offering quality antenatal care.
He also speaks fluent Chinese (Mandarin and Cantonese) Asian languages.
