A highly skilled Orbital and Ophthalmic Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon with a distinguished background, Dr. Angelo Tsirbas has received international recognition by the media, patients and peers for his innovative surgical techniques. Renowned as a pioneering eyelid, brow and orbitofacial specialist, Dr. Tsirbas is sought after by patients from around the world for help in correcting some of the most challenging complication cases or to simply achieve the most excellent first time results. His work specializes in obtaining the finest and most natural results for blepharoplasty, brow-lift and aging face surgery in Australia. The demand for his expertise in functional, reconstructive, revision and cosmetic surgery pertaining to the eyes and oculofacial region, has found him consulting all across the country.
Dr. Angelo Tsirbas graduated from Flinders University of Adelaide, South Australia, with a MBBS with Honors in 1992 and was awarded the prestigious University Medal. He trained in General Surgery in Adelaide and then completed his ophthalmic training at the Royal Victorian Eye and Ear Hospital in 1997, before undertaking a fellowship and further training with Prof. Neil Della and Prof. PJ Wormald in Adelaide.
He was awarded a Fulbright Scholarship to continue his research into Thyroid Orbitopathy and minimally invasive orbital surgery at Columbia University in New York. He completed his fellowship in Orbital surgery at Columbia and at the New York Eye and Ear Infirmary. He continued his research and training and completed his third fellowship on Orbitofacial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at UCLA in California.
In 2005 Dr. Tsirbas was appointed to the faculty of the Orbital and Oculofacial surgical department at the Jules Stein Eye Institute in Los Angeles. He specialized in complex orbital and oculoplastic reconstruction as well as advanced techniques in minimally invasive facial rejuvenation. The Aesthetic practice is based in Beverly Hills.
Dr. Angelo Tsirbas has written and published an extensive list of medical literature including over 50 research papers and book chapters. He is also frequently invited to present talks on many of these subjects and perform live surgeries at medical conferences all around the world. He is also a reviewer for the American Journal of Opthalmology, Journal of Oculoplastic and Reconstructive Surgery and the British journal of Ophthalmology.
Dr. Angelo Tsirbas is involved in several current research projects. These entail both basic science and clinical applications of various emerging technologies. He is an active research coordinator with particular interests in Endonasal Dacryocystorhinostomy (DCR), Thyroid Disease and Orbitopopothy and new techniques in cosmetic facial and eye rejuvenation. He has received numerous grants including a recent grant from the US department of Defence for his work in Robotic Ocular surgery.
Dr. Tsirbas has been a keynote speaker for the British Oculofacial Society, Australasian Association of Facial Plastic Surgeons, American Ophthalmological Society, American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery and the Fyodorov Eye Institute in Moscow. He has been interviewed on National ABC radio regarding new age facial rejuvenation and has been featured on several New York City pod casts regarding his work with robotic surgery.
He is a member of the Australasian Association of Facial Plastic Surgeons, The Australian and New Zealand Society of Oculoplastic and Reconstructive Surgeons, The Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Ophthalmologists and is a founding member of the International Thyroid Eye Disease Society.
