Romane is a highly experienced Psychologist having worked in public and private mental health settings, including immigration mental health working at several detention centres across Christmas Island (WA), Darwin (NT) and on The Republic of Nauru.
Romane has worked extensively with adult clients who have behavioural addictions and substance misuse issues providing individualised psychotherapy and group interventions to support recovery and abstinence. Romane also works with other client presentations including personality disorders, depression, anxiety, grief and trauma.
Romane has a personal interest in Parkinson's Disease and has published primary research on improving quality-of-life for older adults with this neurological disorder. She works with adults suffering from Parkinson's Disease as well as their family members/carers.
Mentally healthy workplaces are important to Romane and she has consulted to corporate and government agencies to implement employee wellbeing programs and mental health strategies to improve workplace climate and productivity. Across her career, Romane has held management roles in HR, operations and business development.
Passionate about helping others, Romane has volunteered as a telephone counsellor (at Lifeline Christchurch (NZ) & Armidale (NSW), and at the NZ National Alcohol Helpline). She has also managed a regional refuge centre for women and children who were experiencing domestic violence and at risk of homelessness.
