Nichola holds a Bachelor of Psychology (Honours) and a Master of Psychology (Clinical). Nichola works mainly with adults and specialises in assisting people undergoing major life transitions especially where grief, loss and adjustment are dominant. She has worked extensively with people adjusting to cancer, amputation, and trauma. As well as working with people adjusting to changed life circumstances, Nichola also works with people living with chronic health and mental health conditions.
She has a particular interest in helping clients with chronic pain achieve an active, self-management response to pain, as an adjunct to medical treatment. Nichola is experienced in the psychological treatment of a range of mental health disorders including depression, anxiety, and acute and post-traumatic stress. Her interest lies not only in alleviating the symptoms of these disorders but in helping clients build personal resilience through the acquisition of new coping skills and increased self-awareness. Nichola draws on her experience with a range of therapy types to assist clients according to their specific needs, including Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy,Interpersonal Psychotherapy, and Dialectical Behaviour Therapy.
