Laurie is a registered psychologist who has a diverse range of experience in various settings including adult education, community and government sectors, and in private practice. Laurie’s aim is to provide a safe and non-judgemental environment so clients can address and resolve the issues they may be struggling with. Laurie is available to work with adults and couples and is a registered Medicare and Workcover
Laurie uses an eclectic style of psychological counselling made up of evidence based treatments including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Schema Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, as well as Mindfulness and Relaxation techniques to ensure that the ‘best fit’ is found for each client to help them reach their goals for engaging in therapy. Each person is unique so sessions are tailored to their individual needs.
Couples or Marriage counselling is also available and Laurie utilises the Gottman Method of Couples Therapy which is a proven and evidence based model to help couples overcome difficulties and develop skills and understanding to enhance their relationships. Healthy relationships are vital to our overall well-being so addressing problems early is important and beneficial.
