Lara balances a warm, compassionate approach with the provision of targeted research-based strategies and has over 15 years experience in Clinical Psychology and Senior Clinical Psychology roles. Lara has a particular interest in techniques to help people living with and recovering from chronic health problems including cancer, heart disease and chronic pain. Lara also enjoys working with those experiencing a range of other emotional concerns or facing other life challenges.
Interventions may include tools to manage anxiety/worry and stress, low mood/depression, and sleeping difficulties. Strategies are goal-focused and may help people improve their emotional wellbeing and maintain an active lifestyle. Tools are based on cognitive behavioural therapy and mindfulness strategies; existential therapy is offered for those wishing to discuss issues around meaning, values and life purpose.
Lara has published numerous research papers over the years in health psychology and cardiac rehabilitation. Lara is committed to ongoing professional development and her recognised expertise is reflected in her role as Clinical Supervisor for Clinical Psychology Registrars in University Masters level training programs. She also offers professional supervision to colleagues practising in Clinical and Consulting Psychology roles.
