Kristie has been working with children, adolescents and parents in a range of health settings since 2001. She has experience in the assessment and treatment of mild, moderate and severe mental health issues in children, young people and their families. Kristie also has skills in assessment and differential diagnosis of developmental disorders and learning issues, including intellectual challenges, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), Autism Spectrum Disorder, and specific learning disorders (previously known as dyslexia and dyscalculia).

Kristie’s passion is helping families and schools understand the needs of children with complex learning and behavioural problems. She is able to provide diagnostic clarification and clear, plain language feedback to parents and educators. Kristie has a particular interest in interventions for children and adolescents with ADHD, and is able to assist with ongoing intervention plans for learning, behavioural or developmental problems, through implementing strategic or environmental modifications at school and home, monitoring for change, and adapting as needed. Kristie is accredited to provide TALI Train interventions to improve attention.

Kristie has experience in a range of evidence based therapeutic techniques and utilises different approaches depending on the issues and developmental needs of the child, young person or family who is in session. She regularly uses attachment based interventions, cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) and interpersonal psychotherapy (IPT) in clinical work. Kristie is accredited to deliver the Triple P Positive Parenting Program and has undertaken graduate studies in infant and perinatal mental health through the Institute of Psychiatry.

Kristie is raising her own family too and is empathic to the joys and worries of life with children. She is warm and non-judgemental and understands the complexities of juggling work, family and self-care.
