Kirstin Bouse is a Clinical and Forensic Psychologist with 20 years-experience in providing therapy for a variety of psychological and interpersonal difficulties. She is skilled in providing consultation and therapy to adults, individuals, parent-child dyads and parent-couples. Whilst she has experience treating a wide range of problems, Kirstin has particular specialties in relation to;

All things parenting; becoming a parent including; bonding and attachment, peri natal depression and anxiety and birth trauma; parenting difficulties in general, particularly from infancy to pre-adolescence, parenting foster and adoptive children Trauma arising from sexual and physical assault, military deployment, natural disaster and accidents; and the seemingly left of field area of offending behaviour including violent and sexual offending. As she has grown both personally and professionally, Kirstin has become increasingly aware of the privileged position she is in, being with clients experiencing distress. She is entirely convinced of the profound importance of the therapeutic relationship. Whilst she possesses the therapeutic “bells and whistles” to assist in practical evidenced-based ways, Kirstin strives to provide her clients with a sense of connection with themselves and with her as their therapist. This is essential for creating a safe place for self-reflection, expression, healing and long-lasting meaningful change. Kirstin is determined to assist her clients find moments of laughter given that it nourishes the soul. She is a big believer in the power of connection and community and seeks to create that in the Life Resolutions Morley practice. Kirstin has a wonderful psychology team who are as supportive of each other as they are their clients.

Kirstin obtained her qualifications from Edith Cowan and Curtin Universities, completing her Masters in Psychology in 2000. In addition to her university based training in cognitive behavioural and interpersonal therapies, Kirstin trained in Gestalt Psychotherapy. She has since undertaken further training in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Trauma Processing, EMDR and attachment based models such as Circle of Security Parenting and Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy.

Trivia

A friend ran over my foot with a lawnmower when we were kids and the blade took a huge chunk out of the top of my foot. I was kicked out of salsa dance lessons in my early 20’s for laughing too much. I have never liked the taste of anything sweet (and still don’t) and sweet food makes me feel sick – icecream, chocolate, lollies the lot
