Karina completed her Bachelor of Psychology in 1997. She is also undertaking her Masters in Family Studies with a specialisation in Family Intensive Practice at the University of Newcastle. She has more than 10 years experience in hospitals, schools and organisations overseas. In addition, she has been working in private practice since 2008 treating adults, adolescents and children who suffer from anxiety (generalized anxiety, social anxiety, obsessive compulsive disorder, panic attacks, specific phobias, and separation anxiety), depression, adjustment issues, Post-Traumatic Stress, self-esteem, relationship difficulties, bereavement and grief, anger management, work and study related stress, challenging behaviour, inattention and emotional regulation issues.
Karina has also a special interest in working with children diagnosed with Austin Spectrum Disorder. She is passionate about working with children and their parents by building on strengths and resilience. She is able to provide short term interventions and long term therapy based on the client’s needs and complexity of presentation. She uses a range of therapeutic approaches including (but not limited to) Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Psychodynamic, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and Child Centre Play Therapy.
