Alina is a Registered Psychologist with a background in clinical psychology and psychotherapy. She holds a Bachelor's degree in Psychology and a Master's Degree in Clinical Psychology and Psychotherapy (University of Bucharest, Romania, 2005) with in-depth training in humanistic-experiential psychotherapy. Alina gained endorsement in clinical psychology ad psychotherapy from the Romanian Psychologists Board and the European Association of Psychotherapists and holds general registration as a psychologist with the Australian Health Practitioners Agency since 2008.
Alina is an experienced psychologst who has been working both in the government and private sectors. Alina's fields of expertise include clincial psychology, individual and group psychotherapy, mental health, disability, dual-diagnosis, trauma, mentoring and training (parenting, clinical psychology, couple and family psychotherapy, experiential psychotherapy, Narrative Exposure Therapy).
Alina has a passion for assisting people who have experienced life challenged which resulted in trauma, addiction, relationship difficulties with their mental health and wellbeing. She has an experiential, humanistic, strengths-based approach when working with clients, their families/carers and their broader systems. Alina works from a flexible, holistic-integrative, client-centred approach combining clinical assessment and interventions with different evidence-based therapeutic approaches, such as, humanistic-experiential psycotherapy, cognitive-behavioural therapy, family systems, transgenerational approach, neuro-biological approaches to trauma and attachment theory to meet the diverse needs of her clients and enable them to actively work towards their recovery and develop a meaningful sense of self.
Alina has a strong interest in working with clients from culturally diverse backgrounds, migrants, refugees, people with disabilities, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, people from rural areas and other vulnerable populations. She is a strong advocate for human rights and social justice.
Alina work with clients across lifespan and has expeience with: grief, loss and trauma, anxiety, depression, stress, existential crises, couple and family issues, intergenerational conflict, perinatal mental health issues, attachment issues, acculturation difficulties, difficulties regarding achieving personal goals, anger management and domestic violence, self-image and confidence, work related issues and addiction.
