Gemma obtained her Masters of Psychology (Clinical) degree from the University of Western Australia in 2000. Since then, Gemma worked for 7 years as a Clinical Psychologist within the Health department of WA. Working with young children and adults, in both the clinic and hospital setting, she gained extensive experience in assessing and treating individuals with a broad range of complex mental health concerns. Gemma also gained invaluable experience working in the private sector, assisting individuals with work-related difficulties and those experiencing barriers to gaining and sustaining employment.

Through her extensive work history, Gemma is experienced in the assessment and treatment of a wide range of presenting problems. Her particular areas of interest and expertise include the treatment of stress, anxiety (including generalised anxiety, panic and social anxiety) and depression. Gemma is committed to helping individuals achieve optimal well-being and psychological health and offers assistance for a broad range of issues including life transition and adjustment difficulties, health-related problems (e.g., pain management, weight management), self-esteem issues, work-related problems, relationship problems and parenting difficulties.

Given her experience of working with both young children and adults, Gemma has an appreciation of and interest in mental health across the lifespan. In particular, she is passionate about helping people learn coping strategies for life, to assist with both short-term symptom relief and long-term well-being. She is particularly interested in promoting the development of resilience skills in young children.

Gemma is committed to the use of evidence based treatments and is experienced and trained in a range of therapies including cognitive behavioural therapy, behaviour therapy, solution focused therapy and schema therapy. Gemma is skilled at individualising treatment in order to meet each person’s specific set of circumstances and requirements and is committed to the development of a collaborative approach to treatment.

Gemma is registered with the Psychologist Board of WA and is a registered provider with Medicare.
