I work with adults, and couples, experiencing a wide range of difficulties. Mostly I work with anxiety (panic, obsessive-compulsive behaviours and phobias), substance and gambling addiction, suicidal thoughts and behaviours and self harm difficulties, depression, relationship issues (including sex therapy), personality disorders, posttraumatic stress and sexual abuse.

I have a particular interest in helping people who have been exposed to trauma, many of whom subsequently develop Posttraumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). The majority of my work is with Police, Paramedics, and Fire Fighters, who develop PTSD directly because of the work they do. My approach to treating PTSD is strongly influenced by the Australian Centre for Posttraumatic Mental Health guidelines. I am also very interested in working with drug, alcohol and other substance addictions and here I work from a psychosocial perspective, taking the whole person, their relationships and environment, into account to find healthier ways to manage the challenges of life. My interest in personality disorders is strongly influenced by Dialectical Behaviour Therapy.

My training includes Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Brief Solution Focused Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and Mindfulness-Based therapies.

My goal always is to provide caring, non-judgmental, evidence-based therapy that facilitates new skills and changes distressing patterns.
