Dr Bernard Kwok retired from active practice in September, 2014. He was a consultant neurosurgeon at the POWH for over 30 years and Chairman of the Neurosurgery Department as well as Head of the Neuroscience Institute for most of his time. Bernie was an inspirational teacher, clinician, surgeon and leader. However, his greatest asset was his personal integrity. Bernie was universally liked and respected for his honesty, commitment to excellence, patient care, family values, fairness and even mannered and rational approach to every situation.

Although Bernie has retired from clinical practice, he will always remain an inspiration and guiding light to everyone here at the Centre, a constant reminder as to why we are here….. “to deliver the highest-quality and most technologically advanced neurosurgical care possible, in a humanistic and personal manner.”
