Melissa is a professional and empathic Psychologist who is passionate about empowering her clients to live full, happy and meaningful lives. Melissa’s approach to therapy involves a focus on the relationship between herself and her client. This has been proven to be the key ingredient for positive outcomes in therapy. Melissa is experienced in working with adults, children, and families, in a variety of therapeutic settings including Corporate Organisations, NGOs and Private Practice. Melissa has a strong passion and dedication to her work and she is well abreast with latest research and literature on many different areas in Psychological counselling including Depression, Anxiety, Stress Management, Assertiveness and Self Esteem, Grief and Loss and Family and Relationship Issues. One of Melissa’s primary areas of expertise is in Perinatal Depression. Melissa works with mothers and fathers who are experiencing Depressive symptoms after the birth of their child or during pregnancy. Melissa is extremely passionate about assisting parents through this difficult time, and uses evidence based therapies to assist clients overcome the symptoms of Depression. Another area of interest and expertise is in weight management and emotional eating. Melissa works with clients on an individual, or group basis to work through the root causes of poor lifestyle choices such as overeating, and assists her clients to make positive long-term changes in their lives. Melissa focuses on the role of the mind and the root cause of unhealthy habits. Melissa has teamed up with Chantelle Wardini from Bites Health Clinic to provide a well rounded program including Dietetics, Psychology and Exercise Physiology. Melissa uses a number of treatment approaches in treating her clients. All approaches are evidence based which means they have proven effective in producing positive outcomes. These include Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) and Solution Focused Therapy (SFT).
