Marita Cooper (Clinical Psychologist)

Qualifications: Marita is a Clinical Psychology Registrar currently completing her PhD through Australian National University. She has published multiple research articles and book chapters in the areas of early intervention, resilience and eating disorders. Marita is an experienced group facilitator and trainer, conducting seminars for both health professionals as well as the general community. Approach to Therapy: Marita believes in the importance of a client-centered approach, understanding the individual needs, goals and histories of each client to work as united team in the journey towards recovery. In working with clients, Marita utilises Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Schema Therapy and Dialectical Behaviour Therapy to formulate client challenges and provide lifelong strategies for wellbeing. 


Main Areas of Interest:

Marita is passionate about child and adolescent psychology with an emphasis on strengths-based psychology. She believes resilience is an important skill for all individuals in their journey to a happier and healthier life. Marita actively applies this approach with her advanced training and research in anxiety prevention, family-based therapy and play-based treatments.
