Laura is an experienced and highly empathic clinical psychologist who brings a warm, open and curious approach to her clients concerns. She is passionate about providing a non-judgmental, collaborative, evidence-based approach and strives to establish a strong therapeutic relationship built on compassion, respect, warmth and trust. She works alongside her clients to give them space to explore their concerns, while supporting them to achieve their personal therapeutic goals. Laura provides both short- and long-term therapy and believes that therapy needs to be flexible to best meet each client’s unique needs.

Laura has worked across community, hospital and private practice, where she has gained a rich and varied range of experiences providing assessment and treatment to late adolescents, adults and families. She works with a diverse range of concerns including mood and anxiety disorders, emotional dysregulation, interpersonal and relationship difficulties, attachment issues, complex trauma and PTSD.

Laura has a strong interest in early interventions for psychosis and those experiencing schizophrenia. She also works within a specialist community setting that provides clinical assessment and psychological interventions for individuals experiencing a first episode of psychosis and those with enduring and complex mental health difficulties. Laura also has a passion working with the homeless and individuals within the Forensic Mental Health Network. She has worked with the Matthew Talbot Hostel and has obtained substantial experience in providing contemporary and recovery focused clinical interventions for individuals classified as forensic or civil patients during her training at the Forensic Hospital. Laura has published research on police use of force in offenders who appear mentally unwell.

Laura employs an integrative therapeutic approach which she tailors to best address each client’s needs and presenting concerns. Common approaches include: Mindfulness-based Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Schema Therapy, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Attachment-Based Therapy, and Compassion Focused Therapy.

She holds an Honours degree in Psychology from the University of Wollongong and a Masters of Clinical Psychology from the University of Technology, Sydney. She is registered with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) and is a member of the Australian Clinical Psychology Association (ACPA).
