Kerry is a registered Consulting Psychologist with 20 years of experience working in health care. Kerry initially trained as Registered Nurse/Midwife working in both metropolitan and remote regions of Australia, as well as internationally in the United Kingdom and Saudi Arabia.
Kerry offers a warm and personable approach alongside the provision of research-based strategies to assist with a range of emotional, relationship and health concerns. Interventions are based on current best-practice research evidence that supports the effectiveness of interventions that use Cognitive Behaviour Therapies (CBT), mindfulness and other therapeutic techniques. Kerry will help you to identify your goals and values, and will work with you to develop targeted strategies to help you to achieve these. Strategies involve non-drug treatments which are “goal-focused” and spaced according to your needs.
Kerry provides interventions to help with depression / low mood, anxiety, worry, and stress, chronic pain, fatigue, sleep difficulties, living with loss, grief and bereavement, enhancing relationships and communication, and managing intimacy / sexuality / transgender issues. She also works with those seeking support to better manage challenges associated with HSC / exam / work stress, work related injury and rehabilitation. Kerry has experience working in adolescent mental health and enjoys engaging with and supporting young people and their families as they navigate the challenges of their teenage years. Kerry has a particular interest in working with those dealing with health problems, and has a special interest in supporting people with cancer. She is keen to support those receiving care, as well as carers, families and loved ones affected by a diagnosis. Kerry has worked for the Leukemia Foundation and Cancer Council NSW and also works in a hospital cancer treatment centre.
Kerry has a keen in interest in research and has worked on projects for the Ingham Institute relating to education and information for cancer patients and their carers, and her honours research into the experiences of mother’s living with multiple myeloma in rural and regional Australia was published in 2015. Kerry actively engages in ongoing professional development and educational activities to ensure she provides best-practice care. Kerry is a Medicare-provider and member of the Australian Psychological Society.
