Julie completed a Masters Degree in Clinical Psychology in South Africa.
She is a member of the Australian Psychological Society and the Society's College of Clinical Psychologists. She is also a Board registered psychology supervisor.
Julie brings extensive training, a rich life experience, and over 17 years experience working as a psychologist to her work with children, adolescents, adults, couples and families. She has operated a private practice in South Africa where she also lectured under-graduate and post-graduate psychology students. She has also provided seminars to business managers and employees on topics such as substance abuse, change management and HIV/AIDS, as well as to cancer sufferers and their family members. Julie has also worked in various multi-disciplinary settings including community mental health clinics, a psychiatric hospital, and more recently, for a charity which provides services assisting disabled children and adolescents in South Australia.
Julie has extensive experience in, and enjoys working with, a wide variety of clients and presenting problems. She has an interest in the areas of chronic illness/disability, grief and loss, trauma, relationships and Family Therapy. She works from a Systemic perspective and uses interventions from a number of therapies (e.g. Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, Schema Therapy, Acceptance & Commitment Therapy and Emotion-Focused Therapy) in treatment.
