I work from the ‘scientist-practitioner’ model and I incorporate a variety of theories that are evidence based and are backed by research to show they are valid treatment approaches. This allows me the freedom to understand you within the context of your current life situation.

To my way of thinking, we are very complex organisms, and to simply use one theory to explain our existence is far too simplistic. Therefore, the theories that I incorporate into my preferred way of working allow me to see you as a whole being, which includes your environment.

I also find the Cognitive Behavioural type therapies to be of significant benefit. These include mindfulness, Rational Emotive Behavioural Therapy (REBT), Schema Therapy, as well as Dialectic Behavioural Therapy (DBT). I may also use narrative therapy to understand the meaning that you apply to your life and certain life events.

Undoubtedly, my interests have influenced my preferred way of working. In this regard I have a drive toward spiritual growth. This is not to be confused with religious beliefs, but rather a deep connection with an inner drive to connect on a deeper level with everything that makes up our experience.

To this end, I have a growing interest in Buddhism and the benefits that meditation can bring to clarifying our experience.
