Dr William Huynh graduated from University of NSW in 2001 after completing the combined Science and Medicine Course, and then completed his specialist training in Neurology in 2009 with a subspecialization in Neurophysiology. He completed his PhD in 2013 that investigated the mechanisms of neuroplasticity following stroke in human patients. His research encompasses the use of novel techniques such as paired-pulse transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) to specifically assess the intracortical inhibitory and excitatory networks of the brain, as well as peripheral nerve excitability studies that provide information on biophysical properties of axons (ion channels, membrane potential etc).

His areas of interests are stroke and MND/ALS, as well as peripheral neuromuscular disorders such as acquired and inflammatory/immune-mediated neuropathies.
