Maven Dental Belconnen welcomed Dr Tara McAndrew to the practice as an associate dentist in late 2009. Dr McAndrew graduated with a Bachelor of Dental Surgery from the University of Adelaide in 2008. After receiving her qualifications, she made the move to Canberra and joined the Maven Dental Belconnen team in 2009. During her first three years in Australia's capital, she also worked part time with ACT Health. Dr McAndrew's career has additionally seen her joining Rotary in 2008 to provide dental aid to rural children in South Vietnam, and taking part in the 2016 Dental Global Relief in Ladakh, India.
In her role as an associate dentist, Dr McAndrew finds it extremely rewarding to help anxious patients overcome their dental fears. She also enjoys working with patients to encourage them to gain complete control over their oral health and to practice preventative techniques that reduce their risk of dental diseases. With the assistance of a caring, dedicated team, and state-of-the-art facilities, Dr McAndrew endeavours to provide patients with the best quality dental care and experience.
Dr McAndrew, although highly experienced across all areas of general dentistry, holds special interests in: children's dentistry, nervous patients, extractions, Mandibular Advancement Splints, Obstructive Sleep Apnoea, patient education and developing tailored treatment plans to treat/prevent oral diseases. She continually strives to further her professional development by attending practical workshops/dental lectures, and reading the latest in dental literature.
Away from the practice, Dr McAndrew loves spending time with her growing family (toddler daughter and another baby girl on the way). She also enjoys getting out and exercising, walking the dog and reading.
