Dr Tabitha Keon is a clinical psychologist with a wealth of experience helping adults, couples, adolescents and children improve their lives and emotional well-being. She began counselling in 1999 and has been practising as a psychologist for 14 years. Tabitha has worked across both private practice, seeing individuals and couples, and psychiatric hospitals, where she provided group therapy for inpatients experiencing mood disorders. Tabitha has also enjoyed teaching counselling skills to psychology students at Macquarie University and making media appearances relevant to mental health issues.
Tabitha's kind and compassionate nature is evident in her work with all her clients as she helps them overcome their struggles. Tabitha works collaboratively with her clients to help them find their inner resilience and develop their strengths, whilst working with them to move toward a place of growth and psychological and emotional health. Tabitha is acutely aware that people are all individuals and therefore she tailors therapy to the individual’s unique needs.
Dr Tabitha Keon has significant experience in treating relationship difficulties and providing couples therapy. She has extensive experience working closely with couples to help them understand their relationship issues, overcome conflict and build stronger, more connected and secure relationships. Tabitha has also conducted extensive research into emotions in intimate relationships, and how people resolve emotional pain in these relationships, as part of her Doctorate and Bachelor of Psychology degrees.
Tabitha also has experience working with children and adolescents. She has conducted research into factors that contribute to childhood anxiety disorders and the role parents can play in assisting their anxious child.
Tabitha is highly qualified holding a Bachelor of Psychology (with Honours) and a Doctor of Psychology (Counselling), both from Macquarie University. Tabitha is a fully registered Clinical Psychologist with the Psychology Board of Australia (AHPRA) and she has two Areas of Practice Endorsement - Clinical and Counselling through AHPRA. She is also a member of the Australian Psychological Society (APS).
