Dr Stephanie Lau (Psychologist)

Stephanie Lau is a Paediatric Psychologist who works with children and their families, using an empathic, holistic and evidence-based approach. She is registered with the Psychology Board of Australia and has a Masters degree in Educational and Developmental Psychology from Monash University. Stephanie sees children of all ages for assessments, diagnosis and therapy.

Stephanie is a warm, constructive and relatable clinician with extensive experience in working with people of diverse backgrounds. Born in Australia, a child of refugee parents who fled war-torn Vietnam, Stephanie has a personal understanding of the importance of resilience, education as a way out of disadvantage and the long-term effects of early developmental trauma.

Stephanie has a special interest in Autism (diagnosis and therapy), particularly in young females. In addition to Western Children’s, Stephanie is based at Melton Health where she works in a multidisciplinary specialist autism assessment team.

Stephanie also specialises in educational assessments and learning difficulties. She believes in understanding individuals’ strengths and weaknesses to achieve their academic potential. Stephanie previously attended selective high school, Mac. Robertson Girls’, and has an interest in helping young people thrive not only through academic but social-emotional successes. She is undertaking further professional training to gain full endorsement as an Educational and Developmental Psychologist.

Stephanie also speaks Cantonese and conversational Vietnamese.
