Dr Shelley Simpson is a Senior Clinical Neuropsychologist who has 19 years experience working in both the Public and Private Health Care Sector. Dr Simpson currently holds a Senior Clinical Neuropsychology position at Westmead Hospital in the Department of Aged Care Psychiatry. She has also previously worked in Adult Community Mental Health, Drug and Alcohol and at the Brain Injury Unit at Westmead and Royal Rehab (Ryde). Her work has focused primarily in the areas of diagnostic, rehabilitation and capacity assessments and the implementation of comprehensive cognitive / behavioural management plans. She is highly experienced in the assessment of adults and older adults with Psychiatric Illnesses (including Schizophrenia and other Psychotic illnesses, Depression, Bipolar, Anxiety, Eating Disorders and Drug and Alcohol); in Dementias (including Alzheimer's Disease, Vascular Dementia, Parkinson's Disease, Lewy Body Dementia, Fronto-Temporal Dementia and Alcohol Related Brain Damage) and in Developmental Disability. Dr Simpson also regularly conducts Capacity Assessments / provides evidence for the NSW Civil and Administrative Tribunal regarding Guardianship applications and Financial Management orders. She also regularly conducts assessments regarding Testamentary Capacity (e.g. capacity to write a will, appoint a Power of Attorney / Guardian) or in assessing the need to enact an Enduring Guardianship Order or Enduring Power of Attorney.
Dr Shelley Simpson has also practiced privately with A & S Neuropsychologists for the past 15 years. In this position she regularly provides diagnostic, rehabilitation and capacity assessments as discussed above. She also conducts assessments for various Government organisations including; Department of Veteran's Affairs, Department of Family and Community Services. Dr Simpson has also provided assessments and evidence for Local and District Courts and for the Family Court of Australia.
