Sarah commenced her psychology career in research, working as Senior Researcher in the Discipline of Psychiatry at The University of Queensland from 2005-2014. She commenced clinical work in 2009 and completed her PhD in 2013. Over the past 13 years Sarah has worked clinically in private practice, community mental health, and public and private hospitals with both outpatients and inpatients. Sarah is skilled in addressing a wide range of difficulties among clients across all age groups, as well as working with individuals, families and couples, and she has extensive experience facilitating groups.
Sarah currently works as Senior Psychologist at Nundah Community Mental Health and she is the DBT Coordinator for the Prince Charles Hospital. She is Chief Investigator on a multisite research project investigating the effectiveness of DBT Skills Modules across five large hospitals in South East Queensland and is Coordinator of the Brisbane North Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD) Mental Health Professionals’ Network. She holds an Academic Title of Lecturer at The University of Queensland.
Sarah’s primary clinical interests are Borderline Personality Disorder, trauma, dissociation, self-harm, suicidality and other self-destructive behaviours. Sarah’s primary therapeutic orientation is Dialectical Behaviour Therapy and she has completed Behavioral Tech’s Dialectical Behaviour Therapy Intensive Training and well as Intensive Training in the Dialectical Behaviour Therapy Prolonged Exposure Protocol for PTSD. She has also completed further training in Schema Therapy and is an Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR) practitioner and a Board Approved (STAP) Supervisor. Sarah is in the last year of a Master of Clinical Psychology.
In her spare time Sarah enjoys spending time with her two young children, running, cycling, reading, drinking good coffee, reading true crime and watching quality tv.
