Dr Sarah Hanslow is a highly experienced orthopaedic surgeon with expertise in hip and knee replacement, hand surgery, foot and ankle surgery, and paediatrics.

She completed her medical degree at the University of Tasmania and served as a Medical Officer in the Royal Australian Air Force, seeing active service in East Timor where she was Officer-In-Charge of the Aeromedical Evacuation Unit, operating from Blackhawk helicopters and providing support to regular Australian Defence Force units, Australian Special Forces, and United Nations contingents, as well as to the local civil community.

Dr Hanslow completed a Masters in Sports Medicine at the University of New South Wales, and trained in foot and ankle surgery at the Sigvard T Hansen Foot and Ankle Institute at the famed Harborview Medical Center in Seattle, USA, with Dr Sigvard Hansen himself – one of the world’s most renowned and respected foot and ankle surgeons.

She is the only female orthopaedic surgeon practicing on the Central Coast and performs hip replacements with the cutting edge MAKO Robot platform along with the “Direct Superior approach” - a modern, minimally invasive approach to total hip replacement. This allows patients to have accelerated rehabilitation and recovery, with less postoperative pain and no functional restrictions in the post-operative period.

Dr Hanslow is very experienced in partial and total knee replacement surgery using the MAKO Robot, which reliably reproduces increased accuracy in the alignment of the prosthetic components, allowing the prosthesis position to be more accurately matched to the patient. This leads to enhanced recovery with less pain and improved range of movement.

She also has extensive experience in hand surgery, performing a large range of procedures including the proven modern technique of endoscopic carpal tunnel release – a minimally invasive technique for treatment of Carpal Tunnel Syndrome which results in reduced pain and a quicker return to normal function.

Dr Hanslow consults at Central Coast Orthopaedics with appointments available at Jarrett Street North Gosford, and Tuggerah Lakes Private Hospital.
