He completed his undergraduate medical degree with Honours from The University of Sydney. His specialty training in ophthalmology took place at The Prince of Wales Hospital and Sydney Children’s Hospital, with him being the Professorial Senior Registrar in his final year.
His fellowship training was completed at Oxford University Hospital, Cheltenham General Hospital and Birmingham Children’s Hospital.
Dr Spargo holds a Masters of Public Health from the University of Sydney and has a Conjoint Associate Lecturer position at the University of New South Wales. He is an active contributor to academic literature, having published in peer-reviewed journals and presented at national meetings. Dr Spargo aims to deliver outstanding care to his patients and their family. He is particularly passionate about ensuring that children develop their full visual potential.
Dr Matthew Spargo has extensive private practice experience and has been appointed as a consultant at the Sydney Children’s Hospital.
