Dr Mark Thompson was the second Gastroenterologist to arrive on the Gold Coast in early 1985. Since that time he has provided a comprehensive service in gastroenterology covering both the Gold Coast and northern NSW. During his career on the Gold Coast, Dr Thompson has been the developer and operator of both Pacific Private Hospital and Tweed Day Surgery. Dr Thompson is currently the Managing Director of The Gastrointestinal Centre which provides a comprehensive consulting and G.I. endoscopic service to the Gold Coast and northern NSW. More recently he has been the lead Gastroenterologist in the development of the Pindara Centre of Excellence in Endoscopy with Ramsay Health Care. His principal clinical interests remain in diagnostic and interventional G.I. endoscopy and colonoscopy including screening programs for colorectal cancer and Barrett’s oesophagus.
