Dr Marcel Mangelsdorf is the friendly and experienced principal dentist at Maven Dental Boyd Street. Dr Mangelsdorf graduated from the University of Amsterdam (Netherlands) in 1977 with a Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS); following which he made the move to Melbourne in 1978.
Once settled in Melbourne, Dr Mangelsdorf began his dental career running a successful part-time practice in North Fitzroy, working for the Royal Melbourne Dental Hospital Domiciliary Service and working casually at the Melbourne University Dental School. In 1990, he moved to Daylesford where he spent 5 years working in Community Health across both Ballarat and Daylesford.
Dr Mangelsdorf, wanting to be closer to family, moved to Tweed Heads in December1994. Here he took over the Wharf Street practice (now known as Maven Dental Boyd Street) from Dr Alice Hill and moved it to its present location in Boyd Street in 1999. Passionate about his role in dentistry, Dr Mangelsdorf continues to be involved in the teaching of dental students working as a casual staff member at Griffith University of Dentistry and Oral Health.
Outside of the practice, Dr Mangelsdorf spends his free time paddling outrigger canoes and riding his motorbike. He is also a member of the local Ulysses Motorcycle Club and is a serving member of the St. Joseph's Parish Advisory Council. His other interests include music and reading.
