Dr Chai graduated from Shanghai Fudan University Medical School in 1983. She moved to Auckland, New Zealand in 1986 to further her medical training at Greenlane Hospital Cardiology unit as well as numerous hospitals including Auckland, Middlemore, Northshore and Waitakere.
She moved to Brisbane in 2002 for a better quality of life and started working in Mackay Base Hospital, Proserpine also Logan and Mater Public Hospitals. Dr Chai started in General Practice in 2008.
