Kim is a warm and empathetic clinical psychologist who is passionate about working with adults and young adults to improve their quality of life, enhance adaptive coping/functioning, and reduce suffering. She is dedicated to working collaboratively with her clients and matching therapy to the individual needs of each client; drawing on a range of evidence-based treatments including Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Schema Therapy, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT), Motivational Interviewing, Mindfulness-Based Therapies, Short-Term Dynamic Psychotherapy (STDP), and Emotion-focused Therapies.
Kim works with a range of presentations including drug and alcohol problems, addiction, issues relating to managing intense emotions, eating disorders and eating related difficulties, low self-esteem and identity issues, relationship difficulties, trauma, stress and coping, anxiety disorders, depression, sleep disorders, personality disorders, and complex and comorbid presentations.
Kim has experience working in a number of private inpatient settings, including South Pacific Private Hospital and the Hills Clinic, and across a range of public inpatient and community health settlings, including the Northern Beaches Drug, Alcohol, and Gambling Service. She completed her Bachelor of Arts (Psychology) degree with first class Honours, her Masters Degree in Clinical Psychology, and PhD at Macquarie University, where she continues to work part-time as an academic, tutoring on a number of undergraduate psychology units.
Kim’s PhD research investigated eating disorders and the role of attachment dynamics, self-regulation, and emotion regulation in eating disturbances in young women. She has presented her research at numerous national and international conferences, including conferences in both the UK and USA and in published written works.
Kim works at our Neutral Bay office on Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays and at our North Sydney office on Tuesdays. She offers daytime, after school, and after-hours appointments.
