Dr. John Kearney studied at the University of Sydney; he was awarded First Class Honours in Psychology, and subsequently completed a Master of Science and a Doctorate of Clinical Psychology.
He is the Director of Psychological Services for Wesley Hospital Kogarah, and also oversees Wesley’s War Veteran Services. He is a full member of the Australian Psychological Society, The College of Clinical Psychologists and The College of Sport and Exercise Psychology. Dr. Kearney has a busy private practice in Kogarah, where he specialises in the treatment of mood, anxiety, anger and trauma related disorders. He has a special interest in Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, perinatal mental health and the use of psychology in sport. Additionally, Dr. Kearney is skilled in the assessment of cognitive and memory functioning and impairment, including the provision of comprehensive reports of assessment outcomes. Dr. Kearney has a good working relationship with several Sydney Universities, and is currently a staff member in the Department of Psychology at Charles Sturt University. He is committed to the use of evidence-based practice, and is an adherent to the discipline of Cognitive Behaviour Therapy.
