A/Prof. Jim Iliopoulos has completed training in the specialties of Vascular Surgery and Cardiothoracic Surgery as well as a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Thoracic Aortic Surgery.
A/Prof. Iliopoulos provides a range of vascular services (both endovascular and open vascular surgery) for the management of: Carotid artery disease; Thoracic and abdominal aortic disease; Peripheral vascular disease; Venous disease & Varicose veins; Renal / dialysis access; and Mesenteric vascular disease.
In addition, he has an interest in the endovascular treatment of thoracic and abdominal aortic aneurysms. A no-gap service is provided to private patients for surgical procedures performed by A/Prof. Iliopoulos.
A/Prof. Iliopoulos has conjoint academic appointments with the University of Western Sydney and the University of New South Wales (UNSW). He obtained his PhD through UNSW titled “The Aortic Wrap Procedure: A Surgical Method of Treating Age-Related Aortic Dilatation and Stiffness”.
A/Prof. Iliopoulos is a member of the Australian & New Zealand Society of Vascular Surgery (ANZSVS), and The Australian & New Zealand Society of Cardiac and Thoracic Surgeons (ANZSCTS). He is Sub-Dean of Surgery at Bankstown Hospital and Supervisor of Vascular Surgery Training at Liverpool Hospital.
A/Prof. Iliopoulos is currently appointed as a Visiting Medical Officer to: St George Hospital, St George Private Hospital, The Sutherland Hospital, Bankstown Hospital, Liverpool Hospital, Campbelltown Hospital, Sydney South West Private Hospital, and Macquarie University Hospital.
