Dr Jessica Luong graduated from The University of Melbourne in 2003 and completed her postgraduate training in internal medicine and advanced training in rheumatology at Austin Health, Royal Melbourne Hospital and Western Health. She also trained in private rheumatology settings at the Melbourne Private and Coburg rooms, and had the opportunity to provide rheumatology service to outer metropolitan Sunbury.
Her passion for clinical work steered her to a fellow position in her final year of training, where she gained experience from a variety of interesting clinics, including Obstetric Medicine, Metabolic Bone and Orthopaedic Waiting List Clinic at St. Vincent’s Hospital, the latter specialising in knee and hip osteoarthritis.
Jessica holds a consultant rheumatologist position at St Vincent’s hospital, where she attends an Inflammatory Arthritis Clinic. Her role also allows her to teach medical students and supervise junior staff.
Jessica enjoys the diversity that rheumatology has to offer, but does have a particular interest in spondyloarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis and musculoskeletal medicine. She also believes in the importance of educating and empowering patients, particularly those with chronic diseases.
Outside of work, Jessica enjoys spending quality time with her husband and entertaining her toddler. She speaks Cantonese and a little of Mandarin and Vietnamese.
