For the first eleven years of Dr Bennett's career he was based at Nepean Hospital, where he was Director of Aged Care and Rehabilitation, and Senior Director of the Division of Medicine. He was involved in numerous studies validating the benefits of exercise in older people. Dr Bennett was the President of the NSW Society for Geriatric Medicine for four years and participated in several Parliamentary Task Forces. For the past 8 years, Dr Bennett has developed a private practice based in the upper north shore. He has formally studied Herbal and Nutritional Medicine. He was awarded a Masters Degree with Merit, in Clinical Epidemiology, at the University of Sydney in 2007.
