Doctors in geriatric medicine (GM) focus on the clinical, preventive, remedial and social aspects of illness in older people. A geriatrician is a doctor who specialises in care of the elderly and the diseases that affect them. The approach tends to be wholistic and involves a multidisciplinary team. The geriatrician concentrates on managing the medical conditions affecting the patient.
