Specialist Periodontist, Dr Chris Barker, was welcomed to the Maven Dental Spring Hill team in 2017. Dr Barker originally graduated from Adelaide University in 2004/2005 with a Bachelor of Dental Surgery and Bachelor of Dental Science. Following this in 2012 he completed his Fellowship at the Royal College of Dental Surgeons, and by 2014 had obtained his Doctorate of Clinical Dentistry (Periodontics) through Griffith University.
Prior to joining Maven Dental Spring Hill, Dr Barker gained valuable experience working in various positions, including: Senior Dental Officer of Southwest Queensland, Consultant at Royal Adelaide Hospital and Associate in private practice general dentistry for 10 years (5 years in Brisbane CBD and 5 years in regional Queensland).
As a passionate dentist, Dr Barker enjoys being able to help restore his patients' mouths to a healthy state and function. Supporting his passion for periodontal therapies to treat gum disease, he holds clinical interests in regeneration of bone and gums, and the use of implants to restore a smile and provide function.
Dr Barker is also committed to furthering his professional development and regularly attends domestic and international conferences to remain up to date with the latest developments in dentistry; whilst also lecturing to other clinicians on preservation and regeneration of bone and gums in the mouth.
Playing an active role within his field, Dr Barker is a member of the Australian Dental Association, Australian Osteointegration Society and Dental Study Club of Brisbane. Additionally, he was also the former president of the Australian Society of Periodontics (QLD).
Away from the practice, Dr Barker enjoys spending quality time with his wife and three children, mountain climbing and slow roast BBQs.
