Dr. Max Wong graduated from the University of Sydney with Honours in 1985. He worked overseas in Malaysia for 3 years before returning to Australia to work in rural South Australia. He was a Senior Medical Officer at Mareeba Hospital in Far North Queensland from 1994 – 1998, and then Medical Superintendent of Dalby Hospital in western Queensland from 1998-2000. Post graduate qualifications obtained during this time were the Fellowship of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (FRACGP), Diploma of Tropical Health and Hygiene (DTMH), Masters of Public Health and Tropical Medicine (MPHTM) and the Fellowship of the Australian College of Rural and Remote Medicine (FACRRM). His special interests are in travel medicine, diving medicine (SPUMS commercial and recreational dive doctor), tropical medicine, occupational medicine, skin cancer surgery, minor surgical procedures, orthopaedics and obstetrics. Languages spoken include English, Cantonese and Indonesian.
