Dr. Alicia Handley has a Bachelor of Science (Honours) degree from the University of Western Australia, a Master of Psychology (Clinical) degree from Curtin University and a Doctor of Philosophy degree from Curtin University. Alicia's research involved examining the efficacy of group cognitive behavioural therapy for clinical perfectionism. Her research has been published and she has presented at conferences in Perth and London.
Alicia is primarily trained in the evidence-based treatment cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), although she can also implement other evidence-based treatments such as meta-cognitive therapy and mindfulness-based cognitive behaviour therapy. Alicia has worked with adults, adolescents and children. She has experience helping clients who have clinical perfectionism, low self-esteem, anxiety disorders (social phobia, obsessive compulsive disorder, generalised anxiety disorder, panic disorder with or without agoraphobia), depression and bulimia nervosa.
Alicia is registered with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) and is a member of the Australian Psychological Society (APS). She has a Medicare Provider number and is registered with many private health insurers.
