Dr Alexander Lewis graduate from the University of New South Wales and completed his internship at Nepean Base Hospital and Repatriation Hospital Concord. He also worked at St Joseph's Hospital before travelling overseas to work as Orthopaedic Resident at St Mary's Hospital in Kent, United Kingdom for 6 months. Upon returning to Australia, Dr Lewis worked in a family group practice for 5 years before commencing his own practice in the suburb of Earlwood in 1989. He is a Fellow of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners having successfully completed the postgraduate exams set by the College. Dr Lewis holds Specialist registration with the Medical Board of Australia in the speciality of General Practice. Dr Lewis was a Board member of the Canterbury Division of General Practice. His interest in children health prompted his appointment as the Immunisation Project Officer for the Division, developing strategies to improve immunisation rates throughout NSW and the Canterbury area in particular. Dr Lewis is a former Medical Officer and Board Member for the Boxing Authority of NSW. His interest in boxing strated at University. He was the Captain of the UNSW Boxing Team, representing the University at numerous competitions and becoming the Inter-varsity junior Middle Weight Boxing Champion in 1974. He has contributed articles related to medicine and boxing in Australian Boxing Magazines, some of which have been published overseas.
