Dr Alan Tse graduated from the University of Melbourne in 2003 after being admitted to the degrees of Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery. He subsequently completed his internship at the Royal Melbourne Hospital followed by two years of residency at the Royal Melbourne Hospital and the Monash Medical Centre. Dr Tse’s postgraduate specialist training in anaesthesia was based at the Royal Melbourne Hospital, but also included time at the Royal Women’s Hospital, Royal Children’s Hospital and Western Health. At the end of his training he completed his provisional fellowship in Obstetric Anaesthesia at the Royal Women’s Hospital in Melbourne, as well as at Southern (now Monash) Health. He received his specialist qualification, Fellowship of the Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists, in 2012.

He maintains his special interest in obstetric anaesthesia with an appointment as VMO at the Royal Women’s Hospital, as well as participating in elective and emergency obstetric anaesthesia care at Epworth Freemasons, Frances Perry and St Vincent’s Private Hospitals. He has also worked as a specialist anaesthetist at Western Health, and developed the epidural competency program for anaesthetic trainees during this time.

Dr Tse also works at Western Private, Northpark Private and Warringal Private Hospitals and the Jolimont Endoscopy Centre. His clinical practice in additional to obstetric anaesthesia, consists of anaesthesia for gynaecology, urology, orthopaedic surgery and endoscopy.

He is married with a young daughter who takes up most of his remaining spare time. He has an interest in snowboarding, and passionately supports the Hawthorn Football Club (along with his wife and daughter who have been conscripted as members).
