After graduating from Monash Medical School in 1975, Prof. Lim undertook his PhD training at Prince Henry's Medical Research Centre. He was awarded the prestigious CJ. Martin Fellowship of NHMRC and completed his post-doctorate at the Salk Institute, San Diego, California. Upon returning to Melbourne he pursued scientific and medical research, presenting findings at both national and international conferences and publishing over one hundred research papers in prestigious journals including Nature, Science and the Journal of Clinical Investigation. During this time he was actively involved in post-graduate teaching and supervised doctorate candidates. In 2003, together with his wife, Ms. Yanfeng Lin, Professor Lim established First Health Medical Centre in Hampton Park where besides patient consultation he also provides training programs teaching junior doctors.
