Dr Fleury studied medicine in University College Cork in Ireland graduating in July 2004. After completing her intern year in Cork, Ireland she moved to Brisbane and completed her post-graduate training in Geriatric Medicine in Queensland. Dr Fleury works in both public and private practice. In her private practice, she has private rooms in Bryants Road Specialist Centre. She works with Southern Cross Care as a Visiting Specialist to residential aged care facilities in the greater Brisbane area. Dr Fleury also works with the Institute for Urban Indigenous Health/CheckUp Qld to provide access to specialist Geriatric Medicine care for Indigenous people in South East Qld. Her public work is based in Ipswich hospital. She currently runs the Hospital in the Home program in Ipswich hospital. She also admits patients to Ipswich hospital and has been involved in the development of the Geriatric Medicine service there. Dr Fleury’s professional areas of interest include, but are not limited to; dementia, delirium, confusion, memory loss, falls, frailty, polypharmacy, medication problems, incontinence, carer stress and general physical decline in older people including end-of-life care. Dr Fleury is actively involved in research focussed on improving care for older people in the hospital system. She has published in peer review papers. She is investigator in a major research project with the Pharmacy Department at Ipswich hospital focusing on drug burden in the older person. She is involved in quality control audits to ensure quality patient care. She also supervises Geriatric Medicine Advanced Trainee research projects.
