The Diagnostic Endoscopy Centre has been providing excellence in diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopy since 1990. We are devoted entirely to the diagnosis and treatment of diseases and disorders of the gastrointestinal tract. We have expertise in coeliac disease, Crohn's disease, bowel cancer and all of the gastrointestinal disorders.

As a Day Hospital within the St. Vincent's / Mater campus in Sydney, we are able to offer a comprehensive range of support services such as pathology and radiology, ready access to other medical specialties, and in-hospital bed availability when required.

The DEC has two Procedure Rooms, one of which is equipped with x-ray facilities for use in more complex procedures. Reprocessing of endoscopes and sterilisation of multiple use accessories is carried out by Infection Control technicians, all of whom have attended Infection Control meetings and have completed the Queensland Department of Health Interactive Endoscope Reprocessing Program. Two Medivators with all available software upgrades are used for disinfection after manual cleaning has been performed.

The Diagnostic Endoscopy Centre is located at St Vincent's Clinic, Darlinghurst We use state of the art endoscopic equipment and adhere to the strictest infection control standards. We are committed to the continuous improvement in quality throughout the entire Unit.

We have achieved and maintained full accreditation with the Australian Council of Health Care Standards since our inception. We have a dedicated team of highly skilled gastroenterologists, sedation and anaesthetic staff, credentialed nursing staff, and certified cleaning technicians who hold certificates of competency from GENCA (Gastroenterological Nurses College of Australia).
