Bay St Family Medical Centre is open 7 days a week, Monday and Tuesday until 8pm, Wednesday and Thursday until 9pm, Friday until 6pm. It is staffed by friendly and caring Reception Staff who understand that Patient satisfaction is an integral part of our service. The Centre is family friendly and the Reception area has a designated children’s playroom. Doctors at this Centre bulk bill all Pension Card Holders and children under 6 years of age (including evenings and weekends and Public Holidays). Individual Doctors are available to speak with patients over the telephone at a convenient time. Please advise reception staff if you wish to speak to your GP and the Doctor will contact you at a convenient time if he is not able to speak with you at the time of your call.
We understand that the patient’s time is valuable. Please note that a standard appointment time is 15 minutes. If you have several medical issues or a complex problem to discuss with your Doctor, you may require a longer appointment. Please notify Reception when booking if you require a longer appointment.
The Centre has 3 female Doctors, 5 male Doctors and 2 practice nurses, all of whom deliver high quality patient care. There is an on duty female doctor on most Saturday and Sunday session. The Clinic is open all Public Holidays except for Christmas Day from 9am until 2pm.
Many of our Doctors specialize in the following areas- Family Health, Men’s and Women’s Health, Occupational Health, Aged Care, Counselling, Mental Health, Travel Medicine,including Yellow Fever Vaccinations, Weight Mangement, Careplans and Minor Surgical Procedures.
The Nurses at Bay Street as well as assisting our Doctors, help to prepare Chronic Disease Management Plans. Home Health Assessments are also conducted by our caring Health Assesment Nurse. The nurses also help to manage our patient recall system. Our recall system is to ensure you receive relevant health information and pertinent reminders relating to your health,such as vaccination updates or screening services. Please advise us if you do not wish to be on our Recall System.
After Hours ( 4pm-8am)healthcare and phone advice can be provided through the ALMS afterhours medical service.Tel : 13 62 60. Patients will be bulk billed for this service. Some of our Doctors provide homevisits during business hours to patients who are unable to attend the Centre. This can be discussed with your Doctor.
For patient convenience the following Allied Health services are available on site: Podiatry ( Mr Jacques Elcheikh), Psychology ( Dr Gina Claxton), Physiotherapy ( Mr Rodney Smith) The Clinic also has on site Pathology. Most pathology test results are available within 2 – 3 days. When organizing a pathology referal your Doctor will inform you of how to collect your results.
Extensive parking is available underneath our centre, and a disabled parking area – for use by any patient unable to use the stairs, is available on the upper level (Bay St entrance), with easy access into our building.
